Setup
-
Attach your thermostat.
Align the thermostat onto the UWP and firmly snap it into place.
-
Turn your power ON.
The following topics are for setting up on the thermostat. If using the First Alert App for setup, follow the onscreen instructions on your smart device.
New Installation
-
After the thermostat has powered up, the display will prompt you to select the language and provide an option to connect wireless sensors. After these settings the display will ask if you want to do the setup using the app or on device (thermostat display).
-
The X8S & X8Q Smart Thermostat senses the wires attached. Based on that it determines the type of system being controlled. It may ask a few questions if clarification is needed based on the wires detected. After selecting the correct option for each setting, touch NEXT at the bottom of the display to advance to the next option.
-
The thermostat or app will exit the setup after any questions have been answered. If you entered the modify configuration menu and made changes after the initial setup, touch DONE to save those settings.
Revising Settings (Modify Configurations)
-
After the initial setup is done, you can view or change settings by going to MENU-Advanced Settings-Modify configuration. To see a list of all setup parameters in the modify configuration menu, go to Modify Configuration Options section. The thermostat displays the setup name and options. There is a "more information" option available for most of these settings.
-
Touch the Menu icon (in the lower left of display).
-
Select Advanced Settings.
-
Select Modify Configuration.
-
This will allow you to view or change the settings. After selecting the correct option for each setting, touch NEXTat the bottom of the display to advance to the next option.
-
To see a list of all setup parameters, go to Modify Configuration Options.
-
To save your settings and exit the Modify Configuration menu, touch DONE at the bottom of display.
Modify Configuration Options
If you are unsure what type of system you have, refer to your heating/cooling system equipment literature or call an HVAC professional. If you select the wrong system type, the thermostat will not operate the equipment as intended.
